Domo arigato

Lady, this is not a Grand Illusion! You're Fooling Yourself if you think I can't turn your vision into a cookie. Come Sail Away with me on this cookie adventure and maybe we'll meet Mr. Roboto along the way.

OK, that was cheesy. Apparently I have Too Much Time on My Hands!

Seriously, though, these were for a group of couples going to see Styx Live at the Garden in Memphis. From what I understand, they had a great time, the concert was fun, and they loved the cookies!

Games, Games, Games!

Who doesn't love a good game? My husband is a poker guy, but he tells me I'm terrible. Apparently I can't keep a straight face no matter how hard I try.

Do you need a poker face to play Bridge? Although I've never played, I had a creative request for some Bridge cookies with key Bridge phrases on them. Along with a dozen red and black suits, I think they came out really cute!

How about Mah Jongg? My parents play. My grandma played. My mom has tried to teach my sister and me on a number of occasions, but I just don't have the knack. I think Solitaire is more my speed.

I made Mah Jongg cookies ages ago, and while they were nice I think these new ones turned out much nicer. Once again, practice makes better.

Do you have a favorite game you'd like to eat in cookie form? :)

I do....

Ah, summer. Time for beaches, relaxing, swimming, camp, and lots and lots of weddings! G and I will be celebrating our 15th anniversary on July 4. Fifteen years! I can't believe it!

I had a few wedding related cookie orders recently, and I hope the recipients loved them and had beautiful weddings! Much love to them all!

Here's a little order that the sister-in-law ordered for the bride and her 3 bridesmaids. I normally don't do such a small order, but I thought it was really sweet of her to want to do that for the girls so of course I said yes!

For another couple, the adorable mother-of-the-groom ordered the bride and groom hearts for their rehearsal dinner and the "B" initial hearts for the wedding. I forgot to take formal pictures of these, so please excuse the cell phone pic.

I wish both couples much love and happiness!

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

I love baseball. The ballpark, the peanuts, the players..... I think it started in 1986 when my parents and grandparents took us to our first MLB game. Mets vs. Padres, if I recall. They dragged my sister and me kicking and screaming, but we were hooked immediately. The Mets won the World Series that year and I've been waiting for them to repeat that ever since (much to the amusement of my Yankees-fan-husband).

The only team I like watching better than my Mets is my son's baseball team. Our weekends may be long, but I love hanging out at the park watching him play.

This year was the first year that I wasn't able to make cookies for his team because I had so many other orders. He understood, and I promised him I'd make sure his team made the schedule next year.

Here are a few of the orders that prevented his team from getting cookies....

For the Black Sox in Michigan, personalized jerseys and baseballs:

For the Germantown Rays here in TN:

Let's go Mets! :)

Happy Father's Day!

I'm lucky to have great dads in my life. Happy Father's Day to my dad who has been a great role model for me my whole life. You've taught me well and I couldn't ask for a better Dad.

Happy Father's Day to my hubby, too, who is an amazing Dad to our kiddos. We appreciate all you do for us!

Although the fathers in my life weren't lucky enough to get cookies, I did have time to do one Father's Day cookie order. These were totally custom cookies for a cool dad who likes cycling. His daughter sent me pictures of his 2 favorite bikes and his 3 favorite cycling jerseys and asked me to turn them into cookies. They were a labor of love, but I think they turned out pretty cool!

Happy Father's Day, Bob, and thanks for the creative order, Renee! (And thanks to Bob for allowing me to use his pictures on the blog!)

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there! Have a wonderful day!

Custom Gift Boxes

Do you only need a few cookies to give as a gift? Consider a personalized gift box. Each box can hold 4-8 cookies depending on their sizes, and they range in price from about $12 to $25 depending on the amount of detail and personailzation.

Here are a few I did recently. The Detroit Tigers box was an end-of-the-year thank you gift for a teacher, and the Michigan Tech box was for a recent high school graduate who will be heading off to college in the fall.

Check out some other custom gift boxes HERE.

Character Cookies

Character cookies are tricky. If you get them just a little wrong, they look ALL WRONG. While I still don't love making them and they often have to be hand-cut, I've definitely gotten better and more comfortable with characters. Here are a few that I've done lately....

Blu from Rio2

Doc McStuffins for a little girl named Madison

Lalaloopsy for a different little girl named Madison

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for a little guy named Kaden

Next on my list? Maybe some grown-up characters, like the guys from The Big Bang Theory! :) Stay tuned....

Welcome Home

I don't know about you, but I hate moving. The packing, the unpacking, the loading, the unloading, the organizing, the paperwork, the little bumps along the way..... Gives me high blood pressure just thinking about it.

A good realtor makes it easier, but a good realtor with a box of cookies makes it great! Thanks to our wonderful realtor Marcia, we ended up in this house 2 years ago and we couldn't be happier. Marcia recently asked me for a box of cookies to bring to her client's closing because she promised their daughter some cookies to keep her busy. Wasn't that sweet of her?!

Do you know someone moving in to a new house? A friend closing on their first home? A new neighbor down the street? Wouldn't a box of cookies help them with their transition or welcome them to the 'hood?

Goal!

Some of my most popular cookies are sports cookies. I make them for fans, for coaches, for teams, for birthdays, for fun, for luck..... you name it!

These soccer cookies were for Morgan's entire team at the end of a great season. Each girl and each coach got a ball and a personalized jersey.

How would your team jersey look as a cookie?

Bat Mitzvah Logos

These cookie favors were shipped to NYC for a beautiful girl's Bat Mitzvah. She is the granddaughter of our long-time family friends who we used to spend many of our holidays with growing up in Buffalo.

She picked beautiful colors for her Bat Mitzvah invitations and they asked me to match her "logo" for 125 cookie favors. I hope everyone had a fabulous time and loved the cookies.

Mazel Tov, Maddy!

Love Your Teacher!

I know all my northern friends still have another month of school left, but my kiddos are done at the end of this week! I cannot believe another year is over. We have been blessed with wonderful teachers every year, starting with preschool. If you have a chance, be sure to thank a teacher! Their job is a difficult one and they often do not get the recognition and praise they deserve.

I've done many different kinds of teacher appreciation cookies, but most recently were a few dozen of these for teachers at a local private school. I hope they loved them!

For my kiddos' school, I was asked to make puzzle pieces. Please excuse the cell phone pictures.... :)

And here are some examples of previous teacher appreciation gift boxes I've done.

Have you thanked your teacher lately?
